Upgrading to Speaker Volume Bridge

Formerly Sonos Volume Bridge. The same app, with the same settings and Sonos compatibility. Our address remains svb.miguel.ms.

Quit the old app first

Quit Sonos Volume Bridge from the menu bar or system tray before installing the update. If both run, Speaker Volume Bridge pauses synchronization and shows a warning in Settings. Quit the old app, then select Check again, or wait a few seconds. Your existing synchronization preference is preserved.

macOS

For direct downloads, install Speaker Volume Bridge.app and remove the old Sonos Volume Bridge.app bundle. Keep your application data and settings. Check Start at login after replacing the bundle. For the Mac App Store edition, update the existing app through the Store. Avoid running both editions together.

Windows

Update your existing installation using the new installer, or update the same Microsoft Store app. The update retains your settings and installation identity and replaces shortcut and startup targets.

Linux

Install the speaker-volume-bridge Debian package. It replaces the old package, and the sonos-volume-bridge command remains as a compatibility link. Check your desktop startup list for manually created duplicate entries.

If the app cannot check for the old version

Operating-system restrictions may prevent process inspection. Quit the old app manually before syncing. An unavailable check does not mean the old app is absent. A previously detected conflict remains paused until a successful check confirms it has exited.

Notifications

A local desktop notification may appear once when a conflict starts. Click it to open Settings. Notification delivery depends on your operating-system permissions; the Settings warning remains available even if notifications are disabled. No push server or account is needed.
